I need to find time to cross the border into the US and pick up all of my orders from my US mailbox! I need my hard drive to be able to sort through and store my pictures since my laptop will be important for the coming school year and it is completely bogged down right now with unecessary stuff!

I have been working 5 days a week the past couple weeks and it was unexpected but good because I needed the money. But, it has also slowed down my home cleaning and thesis work I wanted to do. It's only 2 weeks away from the beginning of my Honours Degree year! GAH!

The last time we went across the bridge to the U.S. my son was not fond of the wait

Made the "one pot" mac and cheese with milk, margarine, and old cheddar. Easy and yummy.

This guy didn't want to nap so we took him for a walk, he was passing out in our arms as we each took turns carrying him
 Evan's hat
It's hard to see, but there's a chipmunk out there, and my cats want him. Like my DIY screen fix?
I read that a family of 3-4 only needs one zucchini plant...did I listen? No.
Felt bad for Jimbo's tiny little tanks he had, so I got him one that's almost 4 gallons, and some more decroations. He hides in the whale's mouth when he doesn't want to be seen, and those pink corals are soft and rubbery so he won't hurt his fins on them. I want to replace his plant with a softer one when I have some more spare change.
He also has a water filter now, which he likes to hang out by and bite at bubbles

mmmm a fresh salsa i made as a chicken sandwich topper
rolled oats for breakfast
It's been rainy and windy and cold the last couple of days, but its sunny today! Just in time for the pow wow

I hadn't had coffee or pop in almost two weeks. I had a diet pepsi last night because I was drained and felt like a zombie but couldn't nap because I had to go to bed and then get up early, and I just wanted a little caffeine. AAAnnnand my stomach is burning this morning. It's not as bad as before, but it's a dull annoying ache. So, I guess pop is very necessary to permanently delete. My stomach hasn't been hurting from tea, or any foods. Just. That. Pop. Sigh.

Stopped by the community graveyard and the apple tree had a branch down

We all love crab apples. Sour foods loving family
Duck face?
I was pretty much stuck on the couch after work with exhaustion. I need to start taking my iron supplements. Feel good today though, hopefully I can work out later.

I found another good idea on a blog. Such simple things that my brain can never think of on its own

Soon I will have this and some new livingroom curtains

Tuesday 14 August 2012

It's a good thing I'm working for the next 5 days because I am extra broke this month. My saved money has finally run out and I was in school all summer so only managed to work part time instead of getting a full time environmental summer student job like I normally do. It hasn't broken my spirits, instead it's given my husband and I a lot more time to clean and fix up the house (instead of taking the baby out to restaurants and places where we inevitably buy him or ourselves things), spend more time in the garden and reading and things like that, and I have finally gotten back into planning our meals week to week, pre-cooking and prepping food etc. It does take a bit of time but the meals are rewarding and it keeps me UNDER budget every week on food and I no longer need to pack microwave dinners for lunch or dinner at work. We also have re-instated our kitchen table as an actual eating place instead of junk storage. No more channel surfing and eating. Damien even joined us at the table and seemed to enjoy it better than his kiddie table.

I found this site called Everything Mom that I got a bunch of ideas and recipes from and will continue to use. I need to organize my bookmarks and clean up my laptop..I have a terabyte hard drive coming and plan on using it for photos. i may finally bring some to Wal Mart and print some out for albums as well. The life of a broke green student mom! Maybe its not so green to print out photos. I suppose a few are ok for on display in the house.

I have also found a much more sophistocated blog than mine with tips for living the way I want to: green and cheap,  here

I have decided I am going to do this:  very soon and keep my eye open online for a used sofa table because my living room is an eye sore. I need need NEED new curtains and somewhere small enough to put my plants on that leaves no footing for the cats to jump up on, or I will be sweeping soil off my livinroom floor until there are no plants left.

Happy Shark Week!!

Saturday 11 August 2012

Auntie Angela stopped over to talk to my son. She's the youngest of 14 kids and my dad was the oldest. Crazy!
Grandma always has the good stuff. A sun umbrella and some fruit and peanuts.
And he has the best face

He wanted to clean his own mess
I hope he's still like that as a teenager (HA!)

Went for a walk on the boardwalk today. I rarely have Saturday's off so we didn't know what to do with ourselves!
That Immortality Tea looked a little suspect to me lol
I went to Teaopia to get a tea latte since coffee is now my enemy

It was a taste I will have to acquire...a little strange
Trying to peel your toddler away from these things is like ..well ..it's like trying to peel a toddler away from the park, toys in the dentist's office, toys on store shelves, or any body of water (maybe that's just my kid)!

I can't believe I'm in a workout rut again! Since before I reduced caffeine and fizzy drinks, so I can't even blame it on that. This blog is actually helping me to try to stay on track and keep my word (and so is the wedding invitation magneted to the fridge) even if no one reads it! So thank you blog. I will go for a run on my treadmill today, but I'm still avoiding the Body Revolution dvd's. I also want to try meditation for help with my sky rocketing anxiety. My dad used to do it and he was the coolest dude ever so I don't see why I can't try. I'm sure youtube will have some informative videos on the subject, haha.
